Budget in Ho Chi Minh & Vung Tau (5D4N) for SGD350

This is my first-time travel to Vietnam. We spend total $350 which included flight, accommodation, food, and etc.

Flight 

Singapore - Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh

VietJet Airline is Vietnam budget airline.


To take note, many locals said that VietJet Airline always delays more than 2 hours. Please try your luck. We are lucky enough that our flight no delay and very smooth.

Accommodation  

All our accommodation for this trip was book through Airbnb. Our hosts are very friendly and helpful to share with us what to eat and where to visit.

4 Nights - $55 per person.

We stayed at district 1 and 3 in Ho Chi Minh. However, we love to stay in district 1 because everything is just a walking distance to tourist place. You can save your money in transportation.

*Please take Uber or Grab in Ho Chi Minh for your transportation especially in the airport. Taxi drivers in the airport always charge more than 200,000 VND to drive you to district 1.

Pro: It provides water and wet tissue.

Con: Driver neither understands nor speak English. It is hard for us to tell the driver where we want to stop.

Example of a good stories

Item: Handmade wallet

Story: I bought this wallet while on my exchange trip to Cambodia. It was the last day and we were returning to Singapore that very evening, so we were all glad to have been able to squeeze in a last minute shopping trip! As my existing wallet at the time was falling apart and I really struggled with keeping the coins in one place. I urgently needed a new wallet. I looked around for about an hour, and then I spotted an elderly lady at the corner of the Russian Market( Tuol Tom Poung Market) who was selling some beautiful purses. I went over to ask for the price and realised she only spoke Khmer, so a younger neighbouring vendor who spoke some english helped to translate.

The elderly lady, who had a gentle smile and very kind eyes, told me that she made the purses herself because she was good at sewing, having learnt how to do so at a young age. When I asked her why she was still working out here on her own, she replied saying she needed the money to put her grandchild though school because the child’s parents had gone missing some year earlier. I was very touched by her story and wanted to help her as much as I could, so I bought 5 purses from her (some as gifts for my family).

I’ve used 1 purse for myself and given away 3 purses to my family members, and I’m listing this final purse for sale, hoping that someone else who is touched by this story would buy it and maybe visit the elderly lady some day when in Cambodia.
